In partnership with The Fire House Dream, Treadmill Mentality Foundation held our first annual Treadmill Mentality Christmas. Families in the Maywood, IL area were able to come and enjoy holiday magic with games, food, gifts and tons of fun! Children were also gifted necessities, such as jackets from Enchanted Bakpack , socks from Bombas, and dental care items from HiSmile and much more!
For our Thanksgiving Initiative, Treadmill Mentality Foundation partnered with the Chicago Bulls and Jewel-Osco to give 10 families from the Featherfist organization $500 for Thanksgiving groceries.
In addition, Treadmill Mentality Foundation sent the families home with additional gift cards to help out further after the holidays.
Treadmill Mentality Foundation partnered with Enchanted Backpack, a non-profit committed to providing resources to under-resourced schools, to give each student at Roswell B. Mason Elementary school a brand new winter coat, hat, scarf and gloves to help them be prepared for the upcoming Chicago winter.
While receiving their gear, students sang, danced, and had the chance to interact with Benny the Bull.
For our October 2023 initiative, Treadmill Mentality Foundation launched Join The Fight to support Gilda's Club Chicago, a non-profit organization that supports anyone impacted by any type of cancer - men, women, teens and children – along with their families and friends, as well as those who have lost someone to cancer.
Cancer impacts over 50% of families in the United States, including both Jevon and Taylor's families. Because of this, Treadmill Mentality matched donations from local Chicago businesses to help supports Gilda's innovative programming. This year, Treadmill Mentality Foundation was able to send $4,157 to Gilda's Club Chicago!
The 2023 Treadmill Mentality Giveback allowed kids from the Chicago area to participate in a one-day basketball camp hosted by Jevon Carter. In addition to participating in the camp, campers also received a camp swag bag, and a backpack filled with school supplies to prepare them for the upcoming year.
Special thanks to our sponsors for helping us fill the bags for kids, including Pilot Pens, Bitsys, Wilson, Uniball, and more!
Treadmill Mentality Foundation hosted families from Heal Black Man for a Father’s Day Outing at a Milwaukee Brewers baseball game. Heal Black Man focuses on creating community where black men are able to seek healing and understanding of themselves, along with providing resources for mental health.
Not only did we want to give these families a day to relax, but also to highlight mental health and fatherhood in the black community. To hear more from Treadmill Mentality and Harry Evans of Heal Black Man, check out our article from Jim Owczarski in the Journal Sentinel.
For our inaugural foundation event, Treadmill Mentality Foundation brought in twenty women from the city of Milwaukee who are not only leaders of nonprofits and community organizations, but mother’s as well. During this time, not only were they all treated to a pamper day at Face Foundrie Milwaukee, but also had the opportunity to connect + network with each other. The goal of the event was to not only show these women how much they are appreciated as leaders and mothers, but also to help move the city of Milwaukee forward together.
